River Rafting & Rock Rappelling Info from Johnny

Information for Whitewater-rafting
Whitewater rafting
The Colorado River provides the most exhilarating white water rafting in America. It is Utah's most popular river, and with good reason!  We will not be going down any crazy rapids but we will have some fun!  For the serious thrill seekers nearby Westwater and Cataract canyons would quench your thirst for adventure.  This past winter was a great snow year in Utah so the river should be running high.  The thrill of whitewater and the rare beauty of southeastern Utah's red rock canyons make a Colorado River rafting trip breathtaking for both its excitement and beauty!
What to wear on the river:  First and foremost all will be wearing lifejackets that fit!  These will be provided by the raft company we are renting our rafts from.  Swimsuits, river sandals or shoes that can get wet (not fli-flops), sunscreen, sunglasses (we suggest you wear cheap ones or have some sort of device like chums that will keep them on you), hats, etc.  Be ready for intense sun!
What to bring on the river:  If you have a drybag then by all means bring it with you!  We will need many of you to drive to shuttle the people floating the river.  Have a plan for your keys e.g. (drybag or hide them someplace). Waterproof cameras (Go-pros), snacks, water bottles, are all good things to have but make sure they are secured someplace because they can easily find themselves littering the river if you’re not careful.
Please be considerate to everyone and be on time.  If we are to do two groups we need to start early so there is time in the afternoon for another run.  Currently we are planning on driving up the Colorado river to Fishers Towers and floating down to take-out beach.  The estimated time is roughly 3 hours to complete the trip.
Make sure you realize your cell phones will most likely not get any cell coverage on or close to the river.  Please plan accordingly.  We will be taking photos with Go Pros and a drone so do realize you don’t need to have your cell phone on the river!  Most cases it’s not worth the risk of having it get wet or losing it.
All who float down the river will need to have their names on a signed waiver provided by our raft company.  Please take care of this at check in!

Information for Canyoneering
Canyoneering routes in the Moab area are all about fun. The landscape surrounding Moab, Utah holds wonderful surprises for those with a sense of adventure.  Our planned routes are within Arches National Park.  If you have a real terror or fear of heights then this may not be the best option for you.  Any youth 16 and under needs to have a parent with them to accompany our group.  This will be an amazing memory we will be making but we are most concerned about safety.  Please follow the instructions of your group leaders (Chelsie or Johnny) and don’t take any risks.  Do not throw any rocks at any time because you never know who or what is below.  Always double check your carabiners, your rappel devices and ropes before you go!  Communicate with those around you!  Make sure others are aware when you are off rope, etc.
We will be leaving from Moab Valley RV park at 9 AM sharp and then later at 2 PM sharp and driving in caravan to Arches National Park for those of you that have National Parks Passes then spread out, it’s $25 for the entry fee and we don’t want people to pay this unnecessarily.

What to wear:
Shorts
T-shirts
Casual wear
Sunscreen
Sunglasses
If you have long hair then make sure it’s in a braid or pony-tail so it doesn’t get caught in the ropes/carabiners.

Snacks
Shoes, sandals or anything you can hike in without blisters
If you have any of the following technical equipment then please bring your own!
